Matsuko VS Masato "Lenor Authentic Deodorant Title Match" Held
Procter & Gamble Japan will launch the newly improved fabric softener "Lenor Authentic Deodorization" from its antibacterial and deodorizing fabric softener brand "Lenor Plus" in early April. It achieves authentic deodorization through "odor-neutralizing technology" discovered after approximately 10 years of research since Lenor's inception.
On April 6th, a launch event titled "Lenor Authentic Deodorization Title Match" was held at Harajuku Quest Hall in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo.
President Stanislaw Besera stated that Japan's fabric softener market has grown by 30% over the past seven years, adding, "We expect this category to grow further by providing added value through new technologies." Development Manager Nobuaki Takashima explained, "Previous products used 'sensory deodorization' to mask unpleasant odors with fragrance, but the new product scientifically neutralizes odors using odor-neutralizing components, with effects lasting all day." He also announced the simultaneous launch of "Lenor Authentic Deodorization Sports," featuring enhanced deodorizing power.
At the venue, both TV commercials—"Serious Deodorization, Here It Is!" and "It's the Strongest Ever!"—were screened. Talent Matsuko Deluxe was appointed as the image character. The story features Matsuko, known for speaking her mind about everything, rigorously judging whether the new product truly delivers on its concept of "serious deodorization without masking with fragrance." Researcher Kensuke Ito appears as the explainer, engaging in humorous banter with Matsuko.
When Matsuko took the stage, she was delighted to see a video message from Mr. Ito. She revealed that after working together, she grew so fond of him that she now calls him "Ito-chan."
The main event was the "Lenor Authentic Deodorization Title Match," where Matsuko judged on the spot whether sweat was truly neutralized immediately. Guest Masato, former K-1 World Champion, joined her. Masato demonstrated sweating by jumping rope for 201 (smell) seconds and hitting mitts 20.1 times. He gently touched Matsuko with the equivalent of 0.1 mitt strikes, delighting her. Matsukoroid, the Odor Investigator, also appeared on stage to join the judging. Matsuko happily leaned close to Masato and declared, "Truthfully, I want to smell Masato, but I only smell Lenor's nice fragrance," ruling it a victory for the authentic deodorizing effect, albeit with a hint of disappointment?
Matsukoroid is scheduled to embark on a full-scale deodorizing tour across various regions starting mid-April. Matsuko-san sent him off with a sash, saying, "Make sure you don't cause any trouble for the people in the regions, and try your best not to make any mistakes."
Masato stated, "I hope many people use it, from office workers to young people in club activities." Matsuko added, "I truly understood it eliminates the source of odor. I want people to experience this unprecedented effect."
