Japan's Largest Mega-Solar Plant Commences Operations

The Kagoshima Nanatsushima Mega Solar Power Plant has been completed in Kagoshima City and began power transmission on November 4. Spanning the vast former IHI site in Kagoshima City's Kinko Bay (roughly 27 times the size of Tokyo Dome), the facility is covered with approximately 290,000 Kyocera solar panels. Its annual power generation capacity is equivalent to the yearly electricity consumption of about 22,000 average households, capable of supplying nearly 10% of Kagoshima City's electricity needs. All generated power will be sold to Kyushu Electric Power.

At the commemorative ceremony held on the 4th, Kazuo Inamori, Kyocera's Honorary Chairman, stated, "I feel acutely that we must maintain our advanced civilization using minimal energy."

Following the plant's completion, Kyocera began airing a new TV commercial titled "The Mega Solar That Changes History" on the 5th. Following the "KYOCERA THINKING ENERGY" edition, actress Misao Yuki was again featured as the character. The ad announces the birth of Japan's largest mega-solar plant while highlighting the company's product track record and durability.
