The Golden World Awards for Excellence (GWA), presented by the International Public Relations Association in London, UK, to recognize outstanding PR activities worldwide, announced its winners on July 12. Out of 350 entries, 57 received awards. Dentsu Inc. Public Relations' (Dentsu Inc. PR) "Crisis Management Innovation Project," which compiled corporate crisis management research, won the Grand Prix in the BtoB (In-House) category.
This project involved a survey on corporate crisis management capabilities conducted in 2015 by Dentsu Inc. PR's Corporate Communications Strategy Institute, with cooperation from the Center for Integrated Disaster Information Research (CIDIR) at the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Information Science and Technology. It targeted 1,825 companies listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, 1,170 foreign companies with bases in Japan, and 1,638 media professionals overall, receiving valid responses from 392 companies and 117 media professionals. It received high praise for verifying the gap in corporate crisis management through surveys of both media and companies.
Now in its 25th year, the GWA features 30 categories including B2B and Healthcare, with subcategories for "Agency" and "In-House" (referring to corporate or organizational PR departments) within each category. Additionally, the award is sponsored by the United Nations. Panasonic's " LOVE THERMO #WarmUpWithLove," developed by Dentsu Inc. and Dentsu PR, was nominated as a finalist for the UN Award. The Grand Prix winner will be selected from all award recipients and announced in November.
