Identity Logo for AdFest 2017 Announced: Designed by Dentsu Inc.'s Yoshihiro Yagi

The identity logo for the 20th Asia Pacific Advertising Festival (AdFest 2017) was unveiled. Featuring a "root" motif, it expresses both the evolutionary trajectory of AdFest over the past 20 years and the 2017 theme: "20 Years of Diversity."

Yoshihiro Yagi of Dentsu Inc., who led the design, explained the concept as follows. He served as Jury President for the Design and Print Craft categories in 2016.

"I once interviewed a charismatic farmer who grows apples that don't rot for a year. I learned that while strong trunks and leaves are important for growing robust apples, the role of the roots is actually even more crucial. Similarly, while people and companies often focus on outward appearances, the unseen parts are indispensable. I felt this principle also applies to AdFest.

Tree roots are incredibly resilient. They steadily grow, avoiding obstacles in the soil and reaching for nutrients and moisture. AdFest has also grown rapidly, embracing digital and new technologies. That tenacity and resilience are the most essential skills in the creative world, and I believe they will remain unchanged no matter what challenges arise in the future. I created this design imagining such ageless resilience."

AdFest Chairman Vinit Suraphongchai stated, "I want to thank Dentsu Inc.'s design team for creating this bold and powerful identity. It brilliantly expresses AdFest's coming of age while reminding us that the roots of our success lie right here in Asia."

AdFest 2017 will be held in Pattaya, Thailand, from March 22 to 25, 2017. ( www.adfest.com )
