Making things more interesting with small changes

──Why did you choose "snow globes" as your theme?

Taketani: Since my student days, I've loved making things more interesting with small changes. For example, I'd turn elementary school indoor shoes into high heels or school lunch milk bottles into wine glasses—that's the kind of work I did. So for this theme, I thought it would be best to focus on making things more interesting by tweaking them slightly.

I suddenly decided on a snow globe and started looking for combinations of things that flutter. I always end up going with food. For this one, I put in "rice and furikake seasoning" and "pasta and grated cheese," but I also thought about "takoyaki and aonori seaweed" (laughs).

This piece is fully CG. They really fleshed out the details, like the tablecloth under the pasta plate or the rice bowl resting on a low table-like board. I'd be happy if people enjoyed looking closely.

──Tell us what you're really into right now.

Taketani: I started traveling a lot more around two years ago. Maybe it's because I got married and now have a travel partner. I don't consciously try to absorb or learn anything on trips—I just go for pure enjoyment (laughs). Going to Finland during Golden Week this year was truly wonderful. I want to go back. I don't have any particular travel themes; I just go wherever I feel like going, whether it's domestic or international. There are so many places I want to visit in the future.
