At the "CRAFT BOSS" launch event, a fresh wind blew through!

Suntory Beverage & Food International is launching the new "Craft Boss" series to mark the 25th anniversary of its canned coffee "BOSS". The first product, "Craft Boss Black", will be released on April 4th, followed by "Craft Boss Latte" on June 13th. These products use newly developed PET bottles instead of cans. The flavor was developed to suit the work styles of modern office workers.

Prior to this, on March 29, a press conference for the new TV commercial was held at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo in Minato Ward.

At the outset, Kenji Miyoshi, General Manager of the Food Business Division, stated, "We noticed that the consumption rate of RTD (ready-to-drink) coffee is low among IT workers. Programmers and system engineers often drink slowly while working at their desks, so we developed this as 'Boss coffee that isn't canned.' We take pride in this coffee, which embodies Boss's craftsmanship, meticulously finished through over 200 processes without cutting corners." Boss aims to become a brand loved even more, transcending work styles and generations." He then unveiled a new TV commercial set to air from the launch date.

The three commercials—"New Wind, Great Team," "Same, No One Around," and "Same, Two Hours Later"—are set at an app development company practicing new ways of working. Actor Masato Sakai plays a manager who encounters behaviors and attitudes throughout the office that defy traditional work styles and values. This is expressed through the keyword "a new wind has blown" and comical scenes of him being blown about by a wind that seems to come from nowhere. Tommy Lee Jones, familiar from the boss's "Earth Survey Series," also makes an appearance in a small but memorable role.

From the cast, Sakai, actor Ryo Narita, and comedian Shinichiro Ozawa of the duo Pistachio appeared as guests on stage. Regarding the commercial, Sakai said, "I started acting around the time Boss was released, so appearing in it was deeply moving. I want to hone my skills as an actor so I don't lose to Craft Boss." Narita commented, "Being cast in a commercial I've known since childhood made me truly feel like I'd become a celebrity." Ozawa drew laughter by saying, "My partner warned me, 'Don't get too cocky.' When I asked the director on set if I could add a gag, he got really angry." Though this was the first time the three had met, they showed their camaraderie by sharing behind-the-scenes stories one after another.

When asked, "What recent episode made you feel a 'new wind'?" Sakai-san and Narita-san answered, and each time they finished, a strong wind generated by a special device blew directly onto Ozawa-san's face. Even after his own answer and after actress Sugisaki Hana's VTR comment ended, Ozawa endured the relentless blast, showcasing his true entertainer spirit. Sakai offered a message: "Many are starting new lives as spring approaches. Feel that fresh breeze and enjoy your new boss."
