Dentsu Inc. Begins Production of New Anime for Capcom's Popular "Mega Man" Game Series ― Set to Air on Major U.S. Children's Channel "Cartoon Network" ―

Dentsu Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshihiro Yamamoto) has commenced production of an animated series based on Capcom's popular game "Rockman" (known internationally as "MEGA MAN") through its wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary, Dentsu Entertainment USA, Inc. (Dentsu Entertainment USA/Los Angeles; President: Yuki Kinoshita).

This project is a joint venture with DHX Media (Headquarters: Canada), a major distributor and producer of children's animation. The series is scheduled to air on Cartoon Network, a major channel under the Time Warner umbrella, starting in 2018 or later. Broadcasting on this channel, which boasts high viewership ratings in the U.S., is expected to drive expansion of merchandising, primarily toys, and global business development.

"Rockman" is a popular game released by Capcom in 1987, with approximately 31 million copies sold to date. Previously produced animations also enjoy high popularity and recognition, primarily in Japan and the United States.

For this new anime project, anticipating expansion into the global market, particularly the U.S., we have engaged the hit U.S. creative team "Man of Action," known for their work on the film "Big Hero 6" and TV anime series like "Spider-Man" and "The Avengers," to lead development. This approach, combining a highly popular and well-known Japanese original work with a project conceived by a U.S. creative team, has already garnered high praise from the U.S. broadcasting industry.

Moving forward, we will continue to develop new content for the global market utilizing Japan's excellent source material and expand our business.
