The special exhibition "The Beautiful Blacklist: 50 Years of the UK D&AD Awards" (organized by the Hideo Yoshida Memorial Foundation/D&AD) is being held at the Ad Museum Tokyo in Shiodome (until January 19, 2014).
The D&AD Awards, established in 1963 by the UK-based "D&AD," are an international advertising prize. Known for their rigorous judging and difficulty in winning, they are prestigious awards for design and advertising. The symbol of the award is the "Yellow Pencil," while the highest honor, the "Black Pencil," has been awarded only to creative work that surprises people, sparks debate, and pioneers a new era.
This special exhibition commemorates the award's 50th anniversary, showcasing all Black Pencil winning works alongside selections made by 50 former D&AD presidents. It traces D&AD's enduring influence on the creative world while introducing the latest 2013 award-winning pieces.

The poster features a black whale motif accompanied by the copy: "Design intends to save the world."
