Rakuten and Dentsu Inc. Establish New Company "Rakuten Data Marketing Inc."

─ Combining Both Companies' Data and Insights to Provide New Marketing Solutions ─

Rakuten, Inc. (Headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Chairman and President: Hiroshi Mikitani; hereinafter "Rakuten") and Dentsu Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Toshihiro Yamamoto, hereinafter "Dentsu Inc.") have established a new company, "Rakuten Data Marketing Co., Ltd.", to provide new marketing solutions by integrating Rakuten Group's big data with Dentsu Group's unique data and expertise, including mass media data. The company will commence operations in October. The agreement for this matter was signed today, July 26. Makoto Arima, Rakuten Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), will serve as President and Representative Director of the new company.

Rakuten Data Marketing will leverage Rakuten Group's customer base and big data—boasting Japan's largest membership—alongside Dentsu Group Inc.'s strengths in mass media, consumer data and insights, and strategic capabilities. By providing comprehensive digital marketing solutions, the new company aims to optimize corporate marketing activities and maximize their effectiveness. Specifically, it will further strengthen the provision of brand tie-up initiatives for businesses on "Rakuten Ichiba" and support corporate promotional campaigns through the development of more personalized advertising products based on customer analysis utilizing Rakuten Group's big data. Furthermore, it plans to provide support for brand customer strategy development and integrated media planning services extending beyond the digital domain.

Rakuten and Dentsu Inc. have previously collaborated in supporting corporate marketing by leveraging the Rakuten Group's member base and media capabilities. Through the establishment of this new company, we will develop comprehensive marketing solutions that maximize the resources of both groups and pioneer new areas of marketing methodology.
