Mister Donut and Tanita jointly developed colorful vegetable donuts.
Mr. Donut, operated by Duskin, held a new product launch event on August 22 at Puzzle Asakusabashi in Taito Ward, Tokyo.
This year, Mister Donut's development theme is "misdo meets," offering products co-developed with companies possessing the highest-level ingredients and technology.
As the fourth installment of this initiative, it will launch three colorful "Veggie Pop" donuts (strawberry & tomato, apple & carrot, pineapple & spinach) developed jointly with Tanita, which advocates "healthy eating habits," for a limited time starting August 25.
Veggie Pop is a healthy, photogenic sweet featuring vibrant red, yellow, and green dough infused with vegetable powder. The soy milk whipped cream filling also incorporates vegetables and fruit. Its smaller size compared to regular donuts makes portion control easier.
Miki Suzuki from Mister Donut's Business Headquarters explained the development background: "We often hear 'I want to eat donuts but I'm concerned about my health.' This time, we wanted to create a sweet that balances healthiness and deliciousness for health-conscious individuals, primarily our key customers: women in their 20s to 40s. That's why we selected Tanita."
Tomoko Ryuko, a registered dietitian at Tanita involved in the new product development, stated, "Our concept of a healthy cycle is based on balancing diet, rest, and exercise, and then measuring and visualizing that progress. We also believe that maintaining a balance between body and mind is crucial for health, and that enjoying snacks in moderation is necessary for mental well-being. We developed Veggie Pop so that people can enjoy cute snacks without feeling stressed, even while dieting. We used vegetables and fruits to create a mild flavor that brings out the natural sweetness of the ingredients, and we also made it colorful and fun."
A set menu called "Tanita-supervised Snack Set" and "Tanita-supervised Soup Set" will also be offered with the "Veggie Pop" and "Green Smoothie," which will be released on the same day.
