On October 18, the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany, announced the winners of the international Red Dot Design Award. From a total of 4,724 entries, 43 received the "best of the best" distinction and 240 were awarded the Red Dot.
The character design "Mr.QR" for QR codes, created by Dentsu Inc. and Dentsu Creative X, won a Red Dot Award. It was recognized for using design to discover new value in QR code technology, now an everyday part of life.
The award-winning team includes: Art Director Yusuke Koyanagi (Dentsu Inc.), Copywriter Marina Danjo (Dentsu Inc.), Designer Katsuhiro Uto (Dentsu Inc. Creative X), Producer Yasuhiko Nishimura (Dentsu Inc. Creative X), and Director Ryosuke Sone (Dentsu Inc. Creative X).
Established in 1955, the award showcases winning works at the Red Dot Design Museum located within the historic Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen.
