KDDI, a supporting company of the Japan National Football Team, began airing a new commercial for its "au BLUE CHALLENGE" campaign supporting the team on March 23. The commercial is titled "Halilhodžić: The Future of Watching Soccer."
Additionally, a web-exclusive extended version (approx. 1 minute 40 seconds) was released starting March 16th.
The commercial progresses through narration by Coach Halilhodžić of SAMURAI BLUE (Japan National Team).
The coach poses the question: "Do you think soccer, now the world's biggest sport, has reached its limits?" He continues, "I don't think so. Because we are about to acquire a new magic: digital technology."
The screen depicts scenes of enjoying soccer matches with the latest technologies like "VR goggles" and "4D Replay." It also portrays a future where, using the company's communication technologies including 5G, viewers can experience the immersive feeling of being at the stadium from home and watch players' moves from various angles.
The director concludes, "The Japan National Team will continue to evolve to keep pace with technological progress."
We look forward to seeing what kind of battles the Japanese national team will deliver at the FIFA World Cup Russia, kicking off in June.
To commemorate the release of the new commercial and web video, the company is running a campaign where you can win a soccer ball signed by Coach Halilhodžić (entry period: until March 29).
