Supporting the Establishment of Japan's First Degree Program

Dentsu Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshihiro Yamamoto) has entered into a collaborative agreement with the University of Tsukuba (Location: Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture; President: Kyosuke Nagata) to foster human resources and develop solutions aimed at creating a Diversity & Inclusion society (an approach that respects each person's diverse individuality and aims for the social participation of all).

Under this agreement, we will promote the realization of a Diversity & Inclusion society primarily through talent development, product and service development for diverse individuals, and communication. This will be achieved by combining the perspectives of academia, centered on the University of Tsukuba which has conducted pioneering research and initiatives, and the insights and know-how cultivated by our company. The goal is to establish Diversity & Inclusion as an academic discipline and further its penetration, responding to the growing attention it receives as society diversifies.

Since establishing the Dentsu Inc. Diversity Lab in 2012, our company has focused on initiatives such as universal design fonts and LGBT surveys. We have now decided to redefine the ever-evolving field of diversity as an integrated concept and collaborate with the University of Tsukuba on the following initiatives.

Main Areas of Collaboration:

● Talent Development and Cultivation
Regarding the development of Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) talent, we will work toward establishing specialized educational programs that offer degree opportunities. In the medium to long term, we will explore establishing educational programs for working professionals, such as a Master of Diversity Administration (MDA) degree, targeting corporate management and management candidates.

The University of Tsukuba aims to establish Diversity Science (see diagram below) as a new academic field and create Japan's first degree program in this area. Dentsu Inc. will support these initiatives.

● Development of New Solutions
We will advance research and develop practical, cutting-edge expertise on diversity and inclusion perspectives, which will see increasing demand in product/service development and communication. This will lead to the creation of solutions addressing challenges faced by corporations and government.

To raise awareness of these initiatives, we will jointly plan and implement a public symposium featuring leading figures from Paralympic sports and business, as well as extension courses for students and working professionals starting this fall.
