【Participants Wanted】(Held on 11/14) "German Institute for Japanese Studies" × "Dentsu Inc. International Exchange Office" Seminar @ Academy Hills "Japan Watchers Witness: '30 Years of Heisei Japan'"

The German Institute for Japanese Studies (Deutsches Institut für Japanstudien, DIJ) (※) will commemorate its 30th anniversary by hosting a talk session titled "Japan Watchers Witness '30 Years of Heisei Japan'," in collaboration with the International Relations Office of Dentsu Inc. Business Development & Activation Division.

In addition to Academy Hills Library members, the first 120 members of the general public will be invited. Apply here (language: Japanese).

This year marks the DIJ's 30th anniversary, a period that coincides almost exactly with the Heisei era. How did these 30 years of Heisei Japan appear through the eyes of researchers from abroad? We present a seminar featuring unique perspectives from both inside and outside Japan.

In the first half, Franz Waldenberger (Director, German Institute for Japanese Studies) will provide a bold and accessible interpretation of these 30 years—a period the DIJ has continued to examine with great interest—from an outside perspective, comparing Japan with Germany and other countries.

The guest for the second half is Mr. Norio Kamijo, Executive Officer at Dentsu Inc., who continues to monitor consumer trends through works like his book "The Era of Social Consumption," which deciphered the shift to a new business paradigm for the next generation.

The moderator is Ms. Kimie Morishita, Head of Innovation Intelligence at Dentsu Inc. Innovation Initiative, who was selected as a 2015 Next Generation Leader (NGL) by the McCain Institute in the US and has spent the last two years in the US and China.

He will lead sessions with attendees exploring the Heisei era's values, communication, career development, productivity, work styles, and approaches to natural disasters.
