To coincide with Newspaper Week (October 15-21) and Newspaper Advertising Day (October 20), the Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association published a unified campaign advertisement, one page each, in 74 newspapers nationwide on October 15.

Each newspaper's ad featuring model Koki displayed a single hiragana character in the upper right corner. Arranging the 74 newspapers' layouts from north to south revealed the following message:
I still don't know
about this country or the world
To become stronger
Learn, to take that first step
Learn to protect your freedom
Let's open the future with newspapers
A special website opened for two days only on October 15 and 16. When photos of newspapers were posted on social media with the hashtag "#ConnectJapan74," the "Newspaper Map of Japan" on the site updated. Once information from 74 newspapers filled the map, a message from the Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association was completed.
