On December 25, Coca-Cola Japan agreed to sign partnership contracts with wheelchair tennis women's singles player Yui Uchi, ranked No. 2 in the world, and Para long jumper Maya Nakanishi, who holds the Asian record and won gold at the 2018 Asian Para Games.
The company announced that, following its designation as a Gold Partner for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games on the same day, it was inspired by both athletes—who, as world-class competitors, pursue their dreams and bring inspiration and hope to many—and decided to support them. Furthermore, leading up to the 2020 Paralympics, the company will provide comprehensive support to both athletes. It also aims to advance the Paralympic Movement and realize an inclusive society through unique exchanges and interactions with these Paralympians.
Uchi is a world-class athlete with Paralympic experience and is the first Japanese athlete confirmed to compete in the Tokyo Paralympics.
Nakanishi has competed in three consecutive Paralympic Games and won a gold medal at this year's Jakarta Asian Para Games. She is expected to excel at the Tokyo Paralympics.
As a Worldwide Partner of the Olympic Games, the Presenting Partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay, and a Gold Partner of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Coca-Cola is committed to making Tokyo 2020 a special event for Japan and the world.
