Kao Announces its best-ever laundry detergent

On January 23rd, Kao held a launch event for its new laundry detergent at Bellesalle Tokyo Nihonbashi in Chuo Ward.

At the outset, President Michitaka Sawada stated, "From our company, which has proposed numerous surprising detergents, we now present the ultimate detergent that makes the impossible possible," and introduced the outline of the new product, featuring the company's best-ever cleaning base agent "Bio IOS," developed over more than 10 years.

"Bio IOS" is the first application of new technology introduced at last November's technical innovation briefing, and will be commercialized starting with the "Attack" laundry detergent line.

One key feature of this base agent is "Zero Cleaning." It achieves "Zero Dirt" through a new structure that adsorbs stains, completely detaches them from fibers, and prevents reattachment. By eliminating the source of odors, it achieves "Zero Odor" with greater effectiveness than using antibacterial agents. Furthermore, after removing stains, it rapidly transfers into water, bringing it extremely close to achieving "Zero Detergent Residue."
The company emphasized that "Bio IOS," made from palm oil mill residue, is a sustainable base material. It introduced "Attack ZERO" and "Attack ZERO for Drum-Type Washers," launching on April 1st.

Yoshio Nakao, General Manager of the Fabric Care Division, stated, "Attack has been on the market for over 30 years. We've observed changes in society and clothing, continuously improving the product. As we enter a new era in 2019, we want to take on new challenges." He reflected on Attack's history and mentioned adding the company's first drum-washer-specific line and a one-hand push-type bottle that eliminates the hassle of measuring and opening to the lineup.

Tetsuya Okano, Director of the Household Research Institute, provided a detailed explanation of the innovation and structure of "Bio IOS." He highlighted its performance as a surfactant, emphasizing features like its affinity for oil and ease of dissolution in water, while expressing a strong commitment to achieving "zero stains."

Following the presentation, demonstrations were held at booths in an adjacent venue. Many media representatives showed keen interest in the superior cleaning power of "Attack ZERO," which separates oil from fabrics.
On the day of the presentation, the company released an experimental video titled "Toward Zero Stubborn Stains" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8D78BZfAV8 ) on its YouTube channel, "Kao Video Channel."
