An Invasive Species Encyclopedia for Parents and Children to Enjoy Learning Together, Supervised by Reptile Hunter Hideaki Kato

Dentsu Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshihiro Yamamoto) has launched a project to revitalize the publishing industry. By combining its strengths in planning and creative power with the editorial and sales capabilities of publishers, the company aims to create books unlike any existing ones, offering new reader experiences. As the first installment, the company will release "The Invasive Species Encyclopedia: Troublesome Creatures!" on May 28. This book was jointly planned and produced with Takahashi Shoten Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President: Hideo Takahashi).

This book focuses on "troublesome" invasive species that have driven native species to near extinction or cause harm to crops and humans. These creatures, which shouldn't naturally belong in their current locations, were actually introduced by human hands for various reasons. The book humorously depicts the poignant feelings of these displaced creatures brought to unfamiliar lands and their initial experiences upon arrival in Japan, using adorable illustrations and short manga.

Supervised by reptile ecologist Hideaki Kato, who appears on a wide range of programs, and featuring manga and illustrations by manga artist Takuya Okada, the book introduces a total of 59 invasive species.

This new encyclopedia of creatures is sure to change your perspective on invasive species. Both children and adults can enjoy learning while reading.
