The Tokyo Copywriters Club (TCC) recently selected the winners for the 2019 TCC Awards. The Grand Prix was awarded to one group of works, the TCC Award to 14 groups of works, the Best Newcomer Award to one individual, the Newcomer Award to 21 individuals, and the Jury Chairman's Award to three groups of works.
The Grand Prix was awarded to the TV commercial "Thinking Man" (Prologue, Episode 1, Episode 2) for Mitsui Sumitomo Card, created by Tetsuro Aso of TUGBOAT. The winning representative copy is: "We carry around strange things. What is money, anyway?" The Best Newcomer Award went to Mr. Teru Tsujinaka of Dentsu Inc., recognized for copy such as "If writing doesn't work, try erasing it" from Pilot Corporation's Friction TV commercial "Notebook Edition."
This year saw 5,095 entries in the general category and 380 in the newcomer category. The final judging panel included Chairman Takuya Isoshima, Vice Chairmen Tetsuro Aso and Mika Kunii.
