Roadside Station Toyohashi Grand Opening!

Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, opened its first roadside station, "Roadside Station Toyohashi," along National Route 23. The direct sales market for agricultural products, "Aguri Park Shokusai Village," opened on April 19. Adjacent to it, the regional promotion facility "Tomate" opened on May 26.

Tomate, based on the concept of a "town veranda," promotes Toyohashi City's appeal, focusing on agriculture. Seven tenants have opened, selling local specialties and offering dishes made with local agricultural products. A "veranda plaza" is located in the center of the facility, serving as a place for rest and dining.

Additionally, the roadside station's own store, "temiyo," opened within Tomate. Collaborating with producers and shops, it selects and sells items that are hard to find locally or lesser-known products. The store name "temiyo" comes from the Japanese "temiyo" (try it), embodying the desire to discover unknown Toyohashi products and tourism resources.

Moving forward, temiyo plans to develop original products, host cooking classes to discover new charms of Toyohashi ingredients, and organize events like roadside station festivals.

Roadside Station Toyohashi is divided into east and west zones by a prefectural road. Aguri Park Shokusai Village and Tomate are located in the west zone. The east zone features a disaster preparedness storage warehouse maintained by Toyohashi City and a parking lot with information facilities provided by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Both zones have restrooms and nursing rooms available 24 hours a day. An underground pedestrian walkway has also been constructed to ensure safe access.
