The Organizing Committee stated it will continue to promote the significance of this project. Through ongoing awareness efforts by cooperating businesses and local governments, it aims to ensure the recycling of small appliances and similar items becomes a legacy of the 2020 Games.

The project's collection period ran from April 2017 to March 2019. Local governments nationwide collected approximately 79,000 tons of small appliances (including mobile phones), while NTT DOCOMO collected about 6.2 million mobile phones.
Ultimately, approximately 32 kilograms of gold, 3,500 kilograms of silver, and 2,200 kilograms of copper were secured.
Thirty-eight Games partners, including Toyota Motor Corporation and Japan Post, also cooperated by installing collection boxes and conducting collection activities.
