The READY STEADY TOKYO test event (hosted by the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee), aimed at enhancing competition and event management capabilities ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, held its archery competition from July 12 to 18 at the Yumenoshima Park Archery Range in Koto Ward, Tokyo. Approximately 130 athletes, including Paralympic athletes, from 29 countries and regions participated.

Archery encompasses various disciplines, including target archery on flat outdoor ranges, field archery in forests or mountains, and indoor archery. The Olympics feature target archery.
Archery was first included in the Olympics at the 1900 Paris Games. It was excluded from 1924 onwards but returned as an official sport at the 1972 Munich Games.
In the Olympics, archers shoot arrows at a 122-centimeter diameter target placed 70 meters away. Hitting the bullseye scores 10 points. Scoring zones extend outward in concentric rings, with points decreasing to 9, 8, and so on, with the outer ring scoring 0 points.
Archery is a sport where mental strength determines victory or defeat, as even the slightest distraction can lead to mistakes, alongside physical fitness and technical skill.

On the 13th, the Olympics held its first official mixed team (men and women combined) competition.
Arrows released from bows travel at high speeds, reaching the target instantly. Large monitors at the venue display enlarged images of the targets, with results announced immediately upon scoring. The archery venue, surrounded by the greenery of a park, offers a quiet atmosphere where spectators can feel the athletes' concentration up close.
The Japanese team (Tomomi Sugimoto and Hiroki Mutoh) faced Colombia in the quarterfinals. After a close battle, they were unfortunately eliminated. Other quarterfinal matches included Turkey vs. South Korea, USA vs. Taiwan, and Netherlands vs. Russia. The semifinals saw South Korea face Colombia and Taiwan face Russia.
The final was contested by South Korea and Russia, with South Korea, performing strongly and scoring 10 points consecutively, claiming the championship. Colombia took third place.
