President Katsuyuki Ota commented, "Under our promotion of diversity and inclusion, we have deepened our engagement with Paralympic sports through sponsorship of disabled sports organizations and encouraging employee participation as spectators and volunteers. We are deeply honored to contribute to the development of a society that leverages diversity as a Supporting Partner for the Paralympic Torch Relay. Under the slogan 'ENERGY for ALL,' we will energize the Paralympic Torch Relay to deliver memorable excitement across Japan."
Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori stated, "Following the Olympics, we are pleased to welcome this company as a Supporting Partner for the Paralympic Torch Relay. The Paralympic Torch Relay is conducted in principle by teams of 'three people meeting for the first time'. We look forward to their support as a partner for both the Paralympic and Olympic Torch Relays, which have different themes, and to their cooperation in supplying gas for the torch. We hope this will help build momentum for the Tokyo 2020 Games."
The Paralympic Torch Relay will take place from August 13, 2020, after the conclusion of the Olympic Games, until the Paralympic Opening Ceremony. Aiming to realize an inclusive society in 2020 and to provide an opportunity to consider "new partnerships" between people and between people and society, the relay will be carried out in teams of three people who meet for the first time, as a general rule. The flame will be lit in all 47 prefectures starting August 13. It will be combined with the flame lit in Stoke Mandeville, UK, at the "Unification Ceremony" in Tokyo, the host city, on August 21, becoming the Paralympic Flame. This flame, embodying the passion of all people, will then be relayed through the streets of Tokyo starting the following day, August 22, and delivered to the Opening Ceremony on the 25th.
