Alien Jones Series Latest Installment A Message to Earthlings Amid the Pandemic (Video Available)

Suntory Beverage & Food International released the latest installment of its popular Suntory Coffee "BOSS" TV commercial series, "Alien Jones: Advice from an Alien" (90 seconds), featuring Hollywood actor Tommy Lee Jones as Alien Jones, online on May 21.
It will air nationwide on television in late May.

The series follows Alien Jones, who came from another planet, as he disguises himself as an Earthling and investigates Earth. In the latest installment, Jones, who has been observing the inhabitants of this planet with a mix of cynicism and warmth, offers advice to people staying home and those working to maintain social functions during the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
It features 19 re-edited segments selected from over 90 works produced over 14 years since the first installment aired in 2006.

Amidst a succession of past commercial clips, Jones' advice to Earthlings is narrated.
"Above all, wash your hands thoroughly," "Wear a mask and stay at least 2 meters apart," "Stay home," and following recommendations for remote work, he urges, "Give unstinting praise to those working desperately to save lives and keep society moving." It concludes with, "And if you get a craving for canned coffee, grab it quickly and leave quickly," while adding, "But the inhabitants of this planet don't need advice from aliens. When they need to act, they act."

 

Though re-edited, the narration and past commercial clips are masterfully linked, marking the first time the message is conveyed directly to Earth's inhabitants.
Particularly striking is the scene near the end where the advice being posted on a smartphone is deleted.
