Samsung, an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Worldwide Partner, has appointed Taku Hiraoka, a member of the Japanese men's snowboard team, as the commercial character for Samsung Electronics Japan ahead of the Sochi Olympics. Samsung is also supporting the athletes by providing the Japanese national team with the "GALAXY Note 3" smartphone.
The TV commercial "NOTE YOUR DREAMS" features footage of Hiraoka riding while depicting snowboarders using the GALAXY Note 3 to joyfully pursue their dreams and goals. The device features handwritten note-taking for schedule management and making calls, as well as the ability to operate two apps simultaneously. The special website ( samsung.com/jp/note3/designyourlife/sports/ ) features the commercial and behind-the-scenes footage, plus special videos titled "MY STYLE" and "MY AMBITION" where Hiraoka discusses his personality and outlook on life.
In conjunction with the Sochi Games, the company is also running a campaign to give away original matryoshka dolls (until February 28).
