Toyama and Eat, a joint venture between TOYAMATO, which promotes Toyama city revitalization, and OAKS, which handles ceremonial events, opened a new restaurant, "BiBiBi & JURULi, " at the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art on April 10.
This restaurant is the first venture by Toyama and Eat, whose mission is to create new excitement in Toyama through the lens of "eat." The name "BiBiBi & JURULi" reflects the aim of creating a space where art stimulates the senses with a "BiBiBi" thrill and food stimulates the appetite with a "JURULi" gulp. It embodies "Art and Eat," offering menus inspired by works like Kandinsky, Warhol, and Pollock from the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art collection. It also addresses SDGs and food loss issues by using ingredients and beverages produced across all 15 municipalities of Toyama and serving them on original tableware crafted by Toyama artisans and manufacturers.
The creative aspects—including the restaurant's concept development, the creation of a character tied to its name, the development of concept-embodying menus and tableware, and the spatial design—were handled by a project team comprising members of the TOYAMATO Creative Team, including Dentsu Inc. Creative Director Gen Tanaka, alongside professionals from various fields: a food director, interior designers and builders, photographers, and a printing company. Moving forward, the team will continue developing special menus tied to the museum's exhibition themes, planning and promoting in-store art and events, and designing and developing character merchandise.
