Let's think about food loss issues together as families. September 9th is "Goo Goo Day."

Dentsu Inc.'s " No Peko Lab," which tackles issues surrounding children and food, has designated September 9th as "Goo Goo Day." It is conducting awareness campaigns to reduce food waste and eliminate child hunger worldwide.

Approximately half of Japan's food waste originates from households, and disposing of discarded food emits significant amounts of CO2. This contributes to global warming, leading to crop failures and ultimately contributing to global famine. To break this global negative cycle by eliminating household food waste, opportunities are provided for parents and children to learn about food loss in a fun way.

■What is "Goo-Goo Day"?
September 9th was established in 2019 as Goo Goo Day (meaning "rumbling stomachs"), a day for everyone to think about children and food issues and take fun action. The entire month is Goo Goo Month. It is officially recognized by the Japan Anniversary Association.

■ What is "No Peko Lab"?
No Peko Lab is an internal Dentsu Inc. lab working towards SDG Goals 1 (No Poverty) and 2 (Zero Hunger). By solving corporate challenges, it aims to make issues like "safe spaces for children," "eating alone and mealtime," and "support for working parents" – all part of "children and food" – personally relevant to everyone in society, solving them in a fun, large-scale way. It collaborates with various Dentsu Inc. organizations and food-related volunteer groups.
