The ultimate immersive art experience, "Immersive Museum," is being held. This year also features a special experience tracing the creation of YOASOBI's music.
The immersive museum "Immersive Museum TOKYO vol.3 Impressionism and Ukiyo-e: Van Gogh and Hokusai, Monet and Hiroshige" is being held at Bellesalle Shinjuku South Exit. The exhibition runs until Tuesday, October 29. Additionally, for a limited time until Sunday, September 8, starting at 4:30 PM, the "Immersive Museum YOASOBI ― The Making of 'Umi no Manimani' ―" will be held with the full cooperation of YOASOBI.

The first installment, "Immersive Museum 'Impressionism' IMPRESSIONISM" held in 2022, and the second installment, "Immersive Museum TOKYO 2023 'Post-Impressionism' POST IMPRESSIONISM" held in 2023, attracted over 500,000 visitors combined and were hugely popular.
This year's third installment, themed "Impressionism and Ukiyo-e," uses cutting-edge technology to create a synchronized world featuring works by Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists like Monet and Van Gogh, alongside ukiyo-e prints by Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige, which influenced Western painting.
The exhibition is structured around eight scenes, introducing the impact that woodblock prints and ukiyo-e—with their vivid depictions of everyday life and natural landscapes, bold layouts and angles, and vibrant colors achieved through multi-color printing—had on Western painting, which had traditionally been dominated by religious art. Visitors can experience the connection between these two painting traditions, which crossed oceans in an era of limited information, through a narrative immersing them in the perspectives of Japanese artists and Parisian painters.

The interactive area, popular last year, features an AI-powered Katsushika Hokusai. In "AI Hokusai," when visitors state their hometown, their image gradually emerges as a ukiyo-e print against a background symbolizing that region. The colors used are analyzed from Hokusai's palette and adopted as color patterns, offering an experience that makes you wonder, "What if Hokusai were alive today and printed my own ukiyo-e?"

This year also introduces an immersive music experience alongside painting. The limited-time "Immersive Museum YOASOBI ―The Making of 'Umi no Manimani'―" allows visitors to experience the journey from the original novel to the creation of YOASOBI's globally popular song "Umi no Manimani" through exhibits and immersive video.

Spanning two floors, visitors can retrace the creative journey: composer Ayase crafting lyrics and melodies from Tsujimura Mizuki's original novel "Yurei," and vocalist ikura breathing life into the work through song. An interactive area within the venue also allows visitors to generate videos based on the lyrics of the song "Umi no Manimani."

The collaboration cafe "Immersive Museum Cafe" features original menu items inspired by "Impressionist" and "Ukiyo-e" artworks, as well as YOASOBI's songs. The merchandise area also sells a diverse range of exclusive original goods available only here.

Comment from Takahiro Noguchi, Immersive Museum Producer, Dentsu Inc.
Thanks to everyone's support, Immersive Museum has surpassed 600,000 cumulative visitors. When we began planning this project in 2019, the term "immersive" was still unfamiliar in Japan. Five years later, immersive content has flooded the market, and with each iteration, Immersive Museum continues to challenge itself to innovate.
This year's art theme is "Impressionism and Ukiyo-e." Enjoy an even more updated immersive experience than before, featuring visuals and spatial design. We've also ventured into cutting-edge AI-generated art. Beyond the experience itself, we're also trying to let each visitor take home their own unique art and memories.
Furthermore, this year, with the full cooperation of YOASOBI, we are holding the special exhibition "Immersive Museum YOASOBI," where you can experience the journey from the original novel to the creation of YOASOBI's music. Feel the world of YOASOBI, distinct from both live performances and music videos, an experience only possible at the Immersive Museum. We invite you to visit the venue.
This year, Immersive Museum has expanded its scope from art to music. Moving forward, we aim to create content across various fields like anime, film, games, and sports, expanding to locations throughout Japan and overseas. Guided by the principle of "Bringing amazing content, previously accessible only to a select few, to a wider audience," our entire team will continue to forge ahead.
