AI automatically generates picture books using words children have learned: Free release of the first prototype "Picture Book of Learned Words" from the "AI Picture Book" project.

Dentsu Inc.'s 'AI Ue-o Lab,' which researches AI applications for education, released a prototype of its 'Learned Words Picture Book' as the first installment of the 'AI Picture Book' project. This project aims to expand children's linguistic horizons. The prototype was available for a limited time during Reading Week, from Friday, October 25, 2024, to Saturday, November 9, 2024.

This "AI Picture Book" service generates stories using related words based solely on children inputting learned words via tablet, smartphone, or computer. It aims to provide a catalyst for language acquisition by helping children understand the connections between learned words and surrounding vocabulary.

The AI-generated picture book "The Picture Book of Words You've Learned" is a perfect read-aloud service for children aged one and older, who are beginning to learn words like "mama" and "papa." Titled "The World Seen by [Word]," for example, if a child has learned the word "car" and it is entered, a picture book titled "The World Seen by Car" is generated. Through stories introducing related or surrounding words like "things next to the word," "things above the word," and "things below the word," children can learn new words and expand their world.

<Comment from Yoh Iida of "AI Ueo Lab," who led the project>
This product was born from seriously considering "What can AI do for children's learning?" We poured our desire into it to deliver experiences that expand children's worlds, using words as the starting point.

While AI is often focused on convenience, our entire team believes that with the right ideas, it has the power to connect with people's feelings and move hearts. The content is enjoyable not only for children but also for adults, so please give it a try.

Moving forward, "AI Picture Books" is considering expanding into a series aimed at supporting children's education. For the commercialization of "The Picture Book of Words I've Learned" and future projects beyond the second installment, we are seeking partners and participating companies for the co-development of AI-based services for children.
