Dentsu Inc.'s business solutions portal, Do! Solutions, is recruiting participants for its webinar "Vision-Driven Business Development: How to Guide New Ventures to Success – Including Practical Insights from Achieving ¥13 Billion in Sales Over 5 Years," scheduled for Friday, April 11.
To seize new growth opportunities in rapidly changing markets, many companies are challenging themselves to launch new businesses. Approaches vary, including holding internal competitions, establishing new departments, and launching management-led projects. However, the success rate for new ventures is said to be only 10%, making it a highly challenging endeavor.
This webinar features Shinichi Nakamura, former Managing Executive Officer of Sompo Japan Insurance Inc., as a guest speaker. He will share key insights on driving new business initiatives based on his real-world experience within a large corporation. Additionally, Kentaro Yoshida of Dentsu Inc., who possesses extensive expertise in supporting new ventures, will explain vision-driven business launches. A talk session with both speakers will also be held.

Shinichi Nakamura
After graduating from Sophia University's Faculty of Economics in 1985, he joined Matsushita Electric Industrial (now Panasonic). After serving as President and CEO of Hi-Ho C&A, he launched the membership site "CLUB Panasonic" in 2008. He grew it to 10 million members and 220 million monthly page views, contributing to enhanced customer loyalty. In November 2017, he joined Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. (formerly Sompo Japan Insurance Inc.) as Managing Executive Officer for New Business Development. He spearheaded six new ventures, including the peer-to-peer car-sharing service "Anyca," the personal car leasing service "SOMPO de Noru," and the parking space sharing service "akippa." He drove the growth of multiple launched ventures, achieving ¥13 billion in sales within five years and steering them toward profitability. Author of "User-First New Ventures: Sowing Seeds for New Growth Using Internal Assets" (Sendenkaigi).

Exposed to PCs since the Showa era, he created owned media during the Web 1.0 era and joined a telecommunications carrier. After joining Dentsu Inc., he tracked the evolution, adoption, and lifestyle impacts of consumer technology, primarily telecommunications, analyzing the value and changes brought by technology. Leveraging this expertise in new product/service development and communication planning, he established the Dentsu Group-wide "Future Business Creation Lab" in 2021, focusing on purpose formulation through future visualization and new business planning.
