"Giant of the Entertainment World" Appears in "Attack on Titan" Smartphone App Commercial

On March 20, DeNA, primarily engaged in developing and operating social games, held a TV commercial launch event for the official smartphone app "Attack on Titan: Roar of Freedom" based on the hit anime "Attack on Titan" at Ebisu Garden Room in Tokyo. The app has been available for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices since February 7th. It surpassed 1 million downloads on the 25th. At the start, singer Akiko Wada, featured in the commercial, made an appearance just like the original manga scene where a Titan peeks over the wall. This drew applause and laughter from the press in attendance.

The "Real Giant Appears" edition is set in a yakiniku restaurant where young comedians are dining. Suddenly, a large hand appears above the wall, and a sauce bottle sways ominously. Amid the tension, Wada emerges from the wall. The story, airing since March 21st, shows the comedians instinctively bowing their heads at the appearance of this heavyweight. It's a unique take, playing on the "giant" of Attack on Titan and the "giant" of the entertainment world.

Wada-san energized the venue, saying, "I was drawn in by the work. People around me said I resembled a giant, but I never imagined I'd get a commercial job like this." To commemorate the commercial's broadcast, a giant statue modeled after Wada-san is available for purchase in the app's shop. (The first giant statue is available until March 27th.) Starting March 28th, the "The Giant in Reality: Running" episode featuring Wada-san is scheduled to air.

The official website ( ssl.mbga.jp/_game_pre_register?gid=12016412 ) allows users to watch the commercial and find information about the Twitter-linked campaign.
