On March 25, radiko, which provides an IP simulcast service for radio broadcasts, announced the launch of "radiko .jp Premium (Area-Free Listening)" on April 1. This service allows users to listen to programs from various regions currently distributed on " radiko.jp " nationwide.
The service is limited to domestic listening areas and costs 350 yen per month (excluding tax; the first month of registration is free). Users can listen by registering for a Premium membership on the radiko.jp website.
This service allows people starting new lives or leaving their hometowns for business trips or travel to continue enjoying familiar radio stations. It also enables listening to sports broadcasts like professional baseball, which were previously unavailable outside their broadcast areas, as well as programs featuring popular artists and celebrities (excluding some programs). By offering services tailored to diverse listener preferences, radiko aims to revitalize radio.
