SNS has dramatically changed society in just over 15 years since its birth. Mixi, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LINE, Snapchat, TikTok... Even among those who were once deeply immersed, almost like addicts, there are probably some who, at some point, started to feel they couldn't quite keep up anymore.

In this book, media researcher Akira Amano traces SNS's evolution from its precursors like 2channel, email newsletters, and blogs. He examines the dizzying changes from personal pages to timelines, and the shift toward sharing experiences through images and videos. Amano delves into the underlying societal desires for recognition and the psychology of sharing that drive this diversity.

Amano states, "The strength of SNS lies in its fundamentally bottom-up nature. This allows anyone to connect freely and utilize it as technology for themselves. As a user, I hope it continues to be a space where we can feel that strength."
