To mark its 130th anniversary on August 1, the Hokuriku Shimbun implemented a four-day consecutive wrapping of its newspaper pages from August 2 to 5, a first in newspaper history, as part of its 130th Anniversary Project "Toyama Pattern Project."

This project aims to revitalize the region by developing textile designs inspired by Toyama's charms. For this edition, original patterns designed by textile designer Masaru Suzuki adorned the entire paper, featuring motifs representing Toyama's nature (the Tateyama Mountain Range), food (white shrimp), water (water flow), and culture (glass crafts).
Moving forward, the project plans to utilize these designs to enrich local life in various settings, including daily necessities, commercial facilities, and transportation.
