Dole, known for its fresh fruit and vegetable brands, held a launch event for "Height Chart," a parent-child application accessible via smartphone, at Spiral Hall in Minato Ward, Tokyo, on August 7th, "Banana Day."

Height Chart is an app that lets users save their child's measured height and photos, making it fun to record their growth. Recorded data can be shared with friends on Facebook.
As the first initiative of its "Project Supporting Children's Healthy Growth," the company opened the Dole "Banana House" pavilion at KidZania Tokyo in Koto Ward starting July 16. This facility lets children experience the entire process of banana production, from harvesting to processing and shipping. Height Chart launched as the second initiative and is also part of the company's SNS project in Asia.
Senior Manager Hiromi Otaki of the Marketing Department explained Japan's high smartphone penetration rate and the fact that daily fruit intake among those in their 20s and 30s is only about one-third of the target amount. "With this app, we want to increase the connection between bananas, Japan's most consumed fruit, and young families," she stated.
Actor Sho Aikawa, who serves as the app's PR captain, and his second daughter Momoko appeared on stage.
Aikawa, known as a doting father of three sons and two daughters, shared parenting rules like "Do what you can yourself" and emphasized his role as a good father, stating, "I'm on the same wavelength as my kids' friends." Momoko supported him, saying, "He's a father I'm proud of." Regarding the app, he joked, "This will be a hit. Kids will definitely show it to their friends. I want to use it for my grandkids' growth records."
Height recording is free for the first time. Subsequent recordings are possible by scanning the QR code on Dole's "Bobby Banana" or "Baby Sweet" bananas, or by downloading the app at doleapps.com. Users can also earn Dole Coins by scanning QR codes or sharing/inviting friends to the app via Facebook. At the end of each month, prizes will be awarded to the top 10 users with the most coins and to 10 randomly selected users who have collected 2000 coins.
