A survey by Asia Plus's market research service "Q&Me" revealed that Vietnamese people have a particularly high level of interest in Japanese culture.
When asked which country or region's culture they were interested in, Japan ranked highest. Combining those who answered "very interested" and "interested" reached 81%. This significantly surpasses levels for South Korea (65%), Europe (47%), and the United States (46%). Regarding impressions of Japanese people, "diligent," "intelligent," and "polite" ranked highly.
The areas of Japanese culture drawing the most interest were "technology" and "food culture." Over 80% expressed either "very interested" or "interested" in both. Regarding Japanese cuisine, the combined percentage of those who "have eaten it" or "know about it but haven't eaten it" showed "sushi" standing out at 98%. This was followed by "udon" (74%) and "ramen" (71%).
The survey was conducted from October 4 to 6, targeting 500 Vietnamese men and women aged 18 and older.
