World's Largest Home Appliance and IT Festival, CES Opens: IoT Becomes Reality

The world's largest consumer electronics trade show, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), opened in Las Vegas, USA, on the 6th. It has gained attention not only for home appliances but also as a platform for showcasing the latest trends in IT and technology. This year, over 3,500 companies are exhibiting, and the event, running until the 9th, expects 150,000 attendees from 140 countries and regions worldwide.

The central topic of discussion this year is the "Internet of Things" (IoT).
Companies unveiled products and services aimed at practical implementation, suggesting that IoT—where cars, homes, and virtually every everyday product connects to the internet—will bring significant changes to people's lives within a few years.

In a keynote speech, AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega predicted that "over 25 billion devices will be connected to the internet by 2020." Samsung CEO Yoon Boo-keun announced, "By 2020, all our products will be IoT-enabled." He highlighted the pursuit of smart home and wearable technologies, stating, "The most advanced IoT device is the automobile," and revealed a collaboration with BMW.
