Nikon Press Event New TV commercial featuring Shun Oguri also unveiled
Nikon and Nikon Imaging Japan held a new product launch event for 2015 on January 14 at Bellesalle Shiodome in Chuo Ward, Tokyo.
The main new product is the digital SLR camera "D5500".
At the outset, Atsushi Godai, President of Nikon Imaging, stated, "Developed with 'Family Nikon' in mind, we aimed to provide an easy-to-use SLR for families. We hope it helps capture and share precious family photos with high image quality."
The D5500 features a compact, lightweight, and slim body; a vari-angle LCD monitor for flexible angles; built-in Wi-Fi; and high image quality with fast response times.
At the venue, the new TV commercial titled "This Is Our DSLR" was screened, and actor Shun Oguri, who appeared in it, took the stage. The commercial, set to air from the release date (February 5), depicts a joyful and harmonious moment between Oguri, playing a father for the first time, and children, with the camera as the medium.
Oguri shared, "I'd been wanting to do a camera commercial, so I was thrilled when my favorite brand, Nikon, approached me." He admitted the shoot was a bit challenging due to the children being "too free-spirited." He also expressed his fondness for the camera, saying, "It's very easy to use and I got the hang of it right away. The touch panel is convenient and perfect for family photos." As a camera enthusiast and now a father in real life, Oguri showed private photos, including one of his daughter holding his hand. "The D5500 fits perfectly in my hand, so I can use it while playing with my child. It looks like fun to take pictures of each other," he said, showing his doting nature. "I want to take lots of pictures of my child and keep them for her."
The Touch & Try corner featured not only the D5500 but also the newly released digital cameras "COOLPIX S3700" and "COOLPIX L32," along with telephoto lenses.
