Toyota Motor Corporationsigned a "TOP Partner" agreement with the IOC (International Olympic Committee) on March 13 and held a press conference at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo in Chiyoda Ward. This marks the first time an automaker has become a TOP sponsor.

TOP Partners occupy the highest tier of IOC sponsorship agreements, allowing them to use the official sponsor designation in promotional activities and utilize the Olympic logo worldwide. Partnerships are limited to one company per industry, with global corporations like Coca-Cola and McDonald's currently holding such agreements. Toyota became the third Japanese company to join, following Panasonic and Bridgestone.
Toyota Motor Corporation's contract period runs from 2015 to 2024 (rights limited to Japan only in 2015-2016; global rights effective from 2017). The main products covered fall under the newly established "Mobility" category (including vehicles such as passenger cars, small mobility vehicles, and commercial vehicles, as well as mobility services like ITS and telematics services).
President Akio Toyoda stated his aspirations: "We want to contribute to the Olympic Movement in a way that lives up to the name of TOP Partner and makes people think, 'I'm glad I chose Toyota.' We want to help harness the power of sport to build a better society, one of peace and without discrimination."
IOC President Thomas Bach remarked, "The Olympic Agenda 2020 is a strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Games. We welcome Toyota as a key partner providing the sustainable mobility solutions outlined in the Agenda. This agreement demonstrates the company's strong commitment to the future of the IOC and the Olympic Movement."
