Narita International Airport Before leaving Japan, experience "Kabuki"!

Narita International Airport opened "Kabuki Gate" (operated by NAA Retailing), an experiential gallery and shop designed to introduce visitors to the world of Kabuki, on March 27th. It is located in the post-security area (South Wing 3rd floor) of the Central Building in Terminal 1.

At the opening ceremony held that same day, Tanaka Densaburo, head of the Tanaka School of Kabuki Hayashi musicians, performed the "Ichiban Taiko" drumming. This drumming, traditionally played at theater openings to wish for a full house, resonated with its untimely "Don, Don, Don, Come On!" rhythm through the cosmopolitan departure lobby.

Airport President Makoto Natsume stated, "Under Shochiku's comprehensive supervision, we've completed a facility befitting Japan's gateway. We especially hope overseas travelers will experience the charm and enjoyment of Japan's proud traditional performing arts." Shochiku President Junichi Sakamoto remarked, "Kabuki is a popular art form, sharing common ground with airports used by diverse travelers. Together with this airport, we aim to share authentic kabuki with the world."

Guest kabuki actor Nakamura Ganjiro IV remarked, "The facility's content is superb. It would be most gratifying if visitors could experience kabuki before leaving Japan, leading them to attend a performance next time. I hope kabuki continues to be cherished for a long time."
After the ceremony, the facility opened to the public and was immediately bustling with many travelers.
