The Japan Times On Sunday wins Excellence Award for second consecutive year in US newspaper design competition

The Japan Times On Sunday, the tabloid-sized Sunday paper published by The Japan Times, won Excellence Awards in the Feature Article Layout and Print-Digital Integration categories at the 36th Best News Design Competition (hosted by the News Design Association, headquartered in Florida, USA). This marks the paper's second award, following last year's Excellence Award in the Redesign category. This year's award recognized the page design of three feature sections.

The "Rediscovering Lost Tokyo" feature page design, selected in the Feature Page Design category, depicted Tokyo by boldly combining contemporary photographs with Edo-period ukiyo-e prints. The "Code+culture" feature, chosen in the Print and Digital Integration category, presented artists' works using abundant video and pop-up screens, finished with a unified design.

The News Design Association, which includes design professionals from news media around the world, holds this competition annually to recognize high-design newspaper pages.
