The international conference "World Marketing Summit" (WMS) will be held in Tokyo again this year, following last year's event. The WMS Japan Council held a press conference on May 20 at The Prince Sakura Tower Tokyo in Minato Ward.
WMS is an international conference established in 2010 by Professor Philip Kotler of Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, often called the father of modern marketing, under the philosophy "Marketing for a Better World." It invites leading marketing experts, executives, and marketing scholars from around the world to discuss how marketing can be leveraged to promote social and economic development. Now in its fourth year, last year's inaugural Tokyo event drew approximately 2,500 participants.
WMS Japan 2015 will be held on October 13 and 14 at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa. It will bring together global wisdom to "revitalize Japan's socio-economy by breaking away from past success experiences." Kozo Takaoka, CEO of Nestlé Japan and Chairman of the WMS Japan Council, stated: "The more advanced the nation, the more it struggles with marketing. The product-oriented business model Japan experienced in the 20th century no longer works in today's advanced societies. What Japan needs now is to utilize cutting-edge marketing to 'revitalize Japan's socio-economy by breaking free from past successes.' It is essential to place 21st-century value-oriented marketing at the core of management and return the resulting corporate profits to society."
