Singapore, marking its significant milestone of 50 years since its founding, held grand commemorative events on August 9th. According to NNA, which distributes Asian economic news, approximately 200,000 people gathered at Marina Bay for the National Day Parade, which began at 6:00 PM.
The commemorative ceremony was attended by guests from 18 countries, including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and heads of state from seven nations such as Malaysia and Thailand. From Japan, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Taro Aso attended.
When images of the late Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's founding Prime Minister who led the nation to prosperity and passed away this March, appeared on a large screen, a particularly loud round of applause erupted, with some in attendance moved to tears. The ceremony featured a parade by 1,200 participants from the Singapore Armed Forces and civilian organizations, followed by an aerobatic display by the "Black Knights" formation of the Republic of Singapore Air Force. At 8:00 PM, a spectacular fireworks display concluded the ceremony.
