Taiwan-based ★ Gurunavi launches Japan food PR campaign to boost inbound tourism

Gurunavi, a major restaurant information search site, launched the "Japanese Restaurant Week" (JRW, October 8-21) campaign in Taiwan to promote Japanese cuisine and encourage tourism to Japan. This was reported by NNA, which distributes economic and business information across Asia.

This is part of the "Visit Japan Public-Private Partnership Project" undertaken by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).

The campaign offers customers at designated restaurants a chance to win tours around Japan through a lottery. During the period, special cards were distributed at 72 Japanese restaurants in Taiwan, including the Japanese restaurant "Washoku En" and the yakiniku restaurant "Kanpai".

The grand prize is a tour package featuring four itineraries jointly developed by H.I.S ANA Navigation Japan and Gurunavi. These packages are designed for overseas visitors to Japan. Two routes start from either Tokyo or Osaka: one heading north to Sapporo, and another heading south to Okinawa. Stops include Niigata, Fukushima, Niigata, and Ehime.

Gurunavi held its first JRW in Taiwan last December, but the grand prize then was only round-trip airfare between Japan and Taiwan. This time, by offering tour packages that include airfare and lodging, the aim is also to promote attracting visitors to regional cities in Japan.
