Sweden-based ★ McDonald's "Happy Goggles" for VR (Virtual Reality) Experience

Starting February 29th at McDonald's in Sweden, "Happy Goggles"—a VR (virtual reality) experience—will be sold for two weeks as part of the "Happy Meal" (known as Happy Set in Japan), the familiar toy-included children's meal.

Happy Goggles are designed to be assembled from the box into a lens-equipped HMD (head-mounted display). Users attach a smartphone running a dedicated app. Wearing the HMD as goggles, they can enjoy "Slope Stars," a ski-themed VR game set in a 360-degree spherical world. This marks the 30th anniversary of Happy Meal in Sweden, though it may be rolled out in other countries in the future.

A child psychiatrist involved in the project's supervision stated, "The new generation was born and raised in a world where smartphones and tablets are commonplace. While the 'VR goggles' will naturally be a fun experience for them, they also provide parents with an opportunity to become familiar with the digital world through their children. It should be a great chance for parents and children to play together on the same level."
