Dentsu Inc. Reaches Agreement to Acquire 100% of Shares in U.S. Audience Data Management Company Accordant Media
Dentsu Aegis Network, the overseas headquarters of Dentsu Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Nao Ishii; Capital: ¥74,609.81 million), has reached an agreement with the shareholders of Accordant Media, LLC (Headquarters: New York City; CEO: Arthur Muldoon; hereinafter "Accordant Media") to acquire 100% of its shares.
Founded in 2010, Accordant Media excels in automatically optimizing programmatic digital advertising, which requires massive data processing. Its proprietary audience targeting system (Accordant ATSTM) integrates three types of data: customer-owned data (first-party data), data aggregated by the company from various sources (second-party data), and external data (third-party data). This enables efficient cross-channel management of programmatic advertising across various digital media, including display, mobile, video, SNS, and email. Furthermore, its platform for analyzing and verifying campaign effectiveness enables round-the-clock reporting of results.
The U.S. display advertising market grew from $22.1 billion in 2016 to $27.5 billion in 2017, a 24.3% increase. Furthermore, programmatic advertising is projected to account for 72% of all digital advertising spend in 2017. This indicates the market in Accordant Media's area of strength is expected to grow at an accelerating pace.
Following the acquisition, we plan to integrate Accordant Media with Amnet (operating in 42 markets worldwide), our group company that provides trading desk services to organically link data and deliver digital advertising to more precise targets in a more timely manner. The newly formed Amnet will aim to create synergies by collaborating with group companies operating in the U.S.
The impact of this transaction on the Company's consolidated results for the fiscal year ending December 2016 is expected to be immaterial.
