Suzuhiro Kamaboko opened the "Kamaboko Board Painting Museum" on the second floor of the Kamaboko Museum within Suzuhiro Kamaboko no Sato (Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) on September 22. It displays award-winning works from the 16th "Kamaboko Board Painting International Competition Small Art Exhibition."
This miniature museum displays "Kamaboko Board Paintings," a small art form where artists paint on kamaboko boards as their canvas. Miniature figures are placed in front of the paintings, creating scenes where people appear to be viewing the works. Kamaboko boards are also used in the structural elements of the museum building itself.
The miniature figures within the exhibits strike various poses. It's quite enjoyable to experience this art as if you were one of those figures. Kamaboko boards are discarded as trash. The company hopes visitors will not only appreciate the artistry but also feel the importance of valuing things.
