Winners Announced for AICHI AD AWARDS 2017 Honoring Creative Works from Aichi! Exhibition Also Held in Nagoya
The Aichi Advertising Association held the "AICHI AD AWARDS 2017," an advertising award recognizing creators who produced outstanding works and conducted remarkable advertising activities within Aichi Prefecture. The judging panel convened on June 8th and announced the winning entries. The list of winners and their works can be viewed on the association's official website.
This year, 268 entries were submitted across five categories: "Broadcast," "Graphic," "Digital," "Design," and "Promotion/OOH." The judging panel, chaired by Shinya Nakajima, Director of Tohokushinsha Film Corporation, comprised seven top Japanese creators.
The Grand Prix was awarded to the human rights awareness poster "My 'normal' and your 'normal' are different. Let's make that our 'normal'." produced by Chunichi Ad Planning. The advertiser was the Human Rights Promotion Office, General Affairs Division, Citizens' Affairs Department, Aichi Prefectural Government.
The work consists of seven posters depicting various themes, including women's rights and sexual minority rights, presented in a "manga" style. In his commentary, Chairman Nakajima stated: "First, the bold decision to adopt a manga style. Moreover, the touch is delicately calculated. And the story is told through carefully selected words. In a world where one wrong step could hurt both sides, it lands with exquisite balance. The bold colors also catch the eye of passersby. These elements form the originality of this poster." He praised the creative team for powerfully tackling a difficult and delicate issue.
He also noted the image of this poster, photographed with a smartphone, spreading online: "The power of graphics combined with the internet's reach. This work serves as a significant hint for the future of graphic design precisely because its message transcends the confines of paper."
The Excellence Works Exhibition will be held from July 12th to 17th at the Design Gallery, International Design Center, Naka Ward, Nagoya. On the opening day, an opening party and awards ceremony will take place at the Café de lacasa Nadia Park branch on the 3rd floor of the same venue.
