On July 10, Daihatsu Motor held a ceremony at the Tokyo Disney Resort parking lot in Chiba Prefecture to commemorate the start of its sponsorship of the resort. The largest-ever giant cone art featuring Disney characters was unveiled at the site, delighting visitors.
Starting July 1, the company began sponsoring parking facilities at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, as well as the popular DisneySea attraction "Mermaid Lagoon Theater," which expresses the world of the Disney film "The Little Mermaid." This marks the first time the company has sponsored parking facilities within the resort.
Daihatsu Chairman Masanori Mitsui touched on the new group slogan "Light you up," announced upon the company's 110th anniversary this March. He explained, "We have imbued 'Light' with two meanings. One is to illuminate our customers with 'light,' providing a radiant lifestyle through meticulously crafted products and services. The other is to offer a 'lighthearted' feeling through small cars that place less burden on daily life and the environment." He stated that the sponsorship was decided because it resonates with Oriental Land's spirit of "delivering happiness to all guests."
Chairman Mitsui concluded, "This is truly the parking lot most filled with dreams and happiness in Japan. We hope our sponsorship will help create happiness for many customers."
The resort's guest parking will introduce the "Parking Memo" service starting July 1st, allowing guests to easily record their parking location via smartphone. Oriental Land President Kyoichiro Uenishi positioned the parking lot as a crucial "first gateway that begins the park experience," stating, "Moving forward, with Daihatsu Motor's cooperation and support, we aim to implement measures that guests will find convenient."
The cone art, shaped into the faces of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, used approximately 2,400 cones and took six hours to create. During the ceremony, Chairman Mitsui and President Uenishi placed the final cone for Mickey Mouse, completing the art. The cone art can be viewed from the platform and train windows at Disney Resort Line's "Bayside Station" until July 31.
