【Manga】Candle

Long ago, when the power went out, we'd light thick, long candles. The drafts in the room made the candle flames flicker, and I remember feeling thrilled by the light and shadows they cast. Then, suddenly, the power would come back on, and the lights would turn on, blindingly bright. I'd feel a sense of regret, like an adventure had ended.

Those candles during blackouts were different from the birthday cake candles of childhood. Nowadays, candles like aromatherapy candles are enjoyed as lifestyle items, but back then, candles were essential items to keep on hand. Somehow, they were replaced by flashlights, and now it's smartphones, I suppose.
